Cooking with ZARA JUNE
I’m Zara, also known as The Macro Muse.
I combined my inspirations and macrobiotic studies to produce my own healing protocol that I want to share with you.
I became intrigued with health while obtaining my degree from The University of San Francisco majoring in Biology and Nutritional Science. During college, I adopted a macrobiotic approach to diet and lifestyle to increase energy and stay focused while running competitively.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to help people take control of their health through a holistic lifestyle.
Having witnessed various family members suffer from multiple diseases, and wanting answers I continued my quest. Through research and my own experiences, I eventually found that conventional western medicine merely provides temporary relief, and using food as medicine was the only way to maintain long lasting health. I want to share with you these powerful tools so you can live your most energized, vibrant life.
I completed further studies at the Kushi Macrobiotic Institute in Massachusetts, going on to join their cooking staff as head chef and cooking class assistant for two years.
The macrobiotic training levels include in-depth study of cooking, macrobiotic philosophy, food energetics, shiatsu massage, and diagnosis. I have used these nutritional principles and protocols to heal ailments including: acne, weight gain, hypoglycemia, and hypothyroidism.
Since leaving The Kushi Institute, I spent the next decade working in private family homes as a chef, educator, and family assistant. I’ve enjoyed improving the lives and health of families, often times as a live-in to further deepen and encourage long lasting habits. I’ve also spent a decade on and off at a farm and community in Alaska, living amongst families and supporting mothers both during pregnancy and postpartum. It was during my experience at the sustainable community that I further developed my love for incorporating plant based cooking and a balanced lifestyle. I began to deepen my passion for mentoring and sharing this valuable knowledge and love of nutrition and healing.
To achieve a more holistic approach, I complemented with all my prior experience and trainings include; Physical Therapy Assistant and Personal Trainer, Pilates, Reiki, and Shiatsu.
When you work with me, I teach you how to become your own healer with the principles passed down through ancient teachings, paired with a modern day approach.
Let me guide you and help you get out of your own way.
